Getting Rid of Trump is the Democratic Endgame

Like many others I eagerly await the special committee chairman, Bob Mueller’s report about his investigation of the Trump Campaign. I too hope all of it will released to the public. We have right to know whether Trump or any of his campaign staff violated the law by colluding with Russia to influence the election in his favor… or whether the President was in nay way guilty of obstruction of justice – based on his firing of former FBI head James Comey. 

I have no clue what they will report. I don’t know if any crimes were committed by the President or – if there were – whether they rise to the level of ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ - the sort of amorphous standard for impeachment.

A lot of people think that report will be devastating. Perhaps. There have already been people connected with the campaign indicted for crimes based on this investigation. But I am not so sure that will be the case. My guess is that – to the dismay of those who would like to see the President go - after a long and thorough investigation, the report will fall short of proving that any crimes were intentionally committed by the President – or if they were they will fall short of being impeachable offenses.

I have mixed feelings about this. My views about the President are well known. I believe he is an embarrassment to the high office he holds. But – leaning conservative as I do - I support many (but not all) of his policies. Both foreign and domestic. So if he remains in office, I will at least see his policies being continued. If he is impeached, that will leave Vice President Mike Pence in charge. Whose political views are mostly in concert with my own. And he will surely be an improvement in how he treats the office he will assume.

Which brings me to the Democrats. They are consumed with ridding the Oval Office of its current occupant. They want a belt and suspenders. On the outside chance that Mueller will somehow exonerate the President, they will find other ways to do it. And as I have said in the past. This isn’t about his demeanor in office. (Although that is what they are selling to sympathetic Republicans.) It is really about politics. 

The current philosophy of the Democratic Party is so Leftist, that many of the announced are tripping all over themselves to show how far left they have gone. Some of the even ‘moderate’ Democratic candidates (Like Amy Klobuchar) have for example come out in favor of the Green New Deal. Which is so extreme that if implemented would destroy our economy. So much for moderate Democrats!

(This is why billionaire Starbuck owner Howard Shultz – a lifelong Democrat  - will be running as an independent – once he officially announces that he is a candidate. He sees the both mainstream parties as extremist. But I digress.)

Now that Democrats control the house, they are pulling out all stops. They have announced all manner of independent congressional using their subpoena power towards the goal of getting rid of Trump - their impediment to further their leftist goals they believe are the most ethical goals on the planet. Goals that include tax policies whose purpose is the redistribution of wealth. That is the definition of socialism. Which I call stealing form the rich to give to the poor. 

Towards that end they will put the President under the most intense of microscopes in order to find some crime that will stick.. No matter how unrelated to the current investigation it is. Like getting a copy of trump’ tax returns to see if they can find anything impeachable that the IRS might have missed. If that isn’t the definition of a witch hunt, I don’t know what is.
