Travel Day

Well, it’s off to Chicago.  My wife and I have just completed an extraordinary Yom Tov in Ramat Bet Shemesh. As always experiencing Yom Tov in Israel with family s an experience we should all have.

The entire country celebrates Sukkos, Even Chilonim. Everywhere you go you see all types of people wishing you Chag Sameach. Everyone knows it’s Yom Tov – even if they are not fully observant. The feeling is in the air.  And in a place like RBS – where the vast majority of residents are observant, Yom Tov feels like Yom Tov in every respect. There are no cars anywhere except for an occasional emergency vehicle.

The city is expanding by leaps and bounds. Beautiful new neighborhood are popping up every day. It is something to behold. Each neighborhood is populated mostly by observant Jews. And the few non observant Jews that live there don’t seem to mind. Everyone gets along.

Of course our most joyous moment was when our new baby great granddaughter, Elisheva was born – on Chol HaMoed. That as the highlight of our trip.

Back to reality. We are flying back now and hope to be back in Chicago tonight.
