I cannot believe how stupid the extremist right wing Republicans in the House are. They would sooner destroy the country, than allow their principles to be compromised.
This is yet another example of the ‘evils’ of extremism. The truth is that these stupid Republicans are right. The Federal deficit has exploded beyond all reason and it ought to be reduced. Not expanded by raising the debt ceiling - allowing the government to borrow even more money.
Reducing the deficit can be done by either raising taxes or reducing spending. I don’t think anyone but progressives and Leftist Democrats want to raise taxes. And they will certainly not cut spending.
But the truth is that it doesn’t really matter how much money we owe ourselves. The dollar is as strong as it has ever been. As long as that is the case, who cares how high the deficit is. There has been a deficit for decades.
But The world depends on the US dollar. The US government is too powerful to be intimidated by threats of losing the value of its currency. As long as most of the world sees the US that way, the dollar will remain strong, No country is anywhere near powerful enough to undermine our economy.
Which means that it doesn’t matter that that the US spends more money than it takes in. As long as the world has confidence in the American dollar, it will remain strong. Raising the debt ceiling does not hurt us. I just exchanged dollars for Shekels and got the best exchange rate I’ve had in decades. All while the deficit keeps increasing.
I know, I know. The Chickens will eventually come home to roost. But as long as world confidence in the dollar remains strong, that ain’t gonna happen.
That’s my story and I’m stricken to it!
And that why those extremist Republicans are so stupid. They are willing to destroy the economy immediately by refusing to raise the debt ceiling, which means that the US cannot ‘borrow’ any money to pay its bills And if anything can shake the world’s confidence in the American economy, this is it.
These stupid Republicans fired the Speaker of the House today. Why? Because he collaborated with democrats to raise the debt ceiling.
That means that they may actually allow the economy to collapse.
The world is watching. And who knows? China may take our place and the deficit will then matter. And goodbye dollar!
